WHAT GUM RECESSION MEANS FOR YOUR HEALTH
There are many different causes for gum recession (receding gums), but the most common cause of gum recession is periodontitis (periodontal disease). The periodontitis is a devil's cycle in which bacteria grow and spread throughout the mouth. These bacteria have been shown to spread through the bloodstream and cause worsening of other serious diseases such as heart disease, diabetes and even some forms of cancer. If the tooth is exposed, the protective barrier of gum tissue is missing. Often, pain at the base of the tooth already occurs in response to cold stimuli. Without protective gum tissue, our teeth, as well as the bone surrounding the teeth, are much more susceptible to damage from bacteria and external stimuli.
REVERSE RECEDING GUMS
THE TRADITIONAL TREATMENT FOR RECEDING GUMS
Until now, traditional surgery to correct gum recession involved cutting tissue from another part of the mouth and suturing it onto the exposed tooth. This procedure can be very painful, invasive and slow in the healing process. Dr. Roberto Lhotka is pleased to offer his patients a minimally invasive alternative with the Chao Pinhole® Surgical Technique (PST™).

GUMSTREAT YOUR GUM RECESSION IN VIENNA
Dr. Roberto Lhotka is a Pinhole® certified dentist in Austria. He has been specially trained in the Pinhole technique in the USA to offer you this innovative procedure to correct gum recession. Invented by John Chao D.D.S., the Pinhole® procedure is a gentle way to restore your gums. No incisions or sutures are needed. For the procedure, only a small hole, the pinhole, is placed in your gums and then special instruments are used to lift the gums. Collagen strips are inserted for healing. This covers the exposed area. This provides immediate cosmetic results, as well as rapid healing. Most patients can resume their usual activities the very next day!
